Webinar: Narratives, Agency and Resilience: Methodological Challenges of Qualitative Research in Contexts of Vulnerability
June 11, 2026, 16:00-17:30
[ This activity will be conducted in Spanish ]
Online format
Qualitative methodologies make it possible to access complex life experiences and narratives, especially in contexts marked by inequality, violence, or social exclusion. However, researching these narratives raises important methodological and ethical challenges: how can spaces of trust be created? How can difficult experiences be addressed without revictimizing individuals? And how can dimensions of agency, resilience, and meaning-making be identified within these narratives? In this regard, analyzing agency as a relational and temporal process, as well as considering situated knowledge, offers relevant frameworks for addressing these issues.
This webinar brings together the principal investigators of four projects funded in the 2022 call for "Knowledge Generation Projects" by the Spanish State Research Agency:
The webinar is also co-organized by the Master's Degree in Innovation in Social and Educational Intervention at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (MIISE), whose commitment to research and transformative intervention fully aligns with the aim of this virtual meeting: to promote collective reflection on methodological challenges and lessons learned from qualitative research with young people and children in vulnerable contexts.
Drawing on their empirical experiences, the seminar will focus on identifying principles, strategies, and methodological decisions that not only allow access to complex narratives but also foster processes of listening that contribute to the recognition of lived experiences and the emergence of narratives of agency, in line with approaches that emphasize the capacity for action even in contexts of inequality.
The webinar is aimed at researchers, postgraduate students, and professionals interested in qualitative methodologies applied to complex social contexts.
