Anthropology and Human Evolution (URV / UOC)

The Undergraduate Programme in Anthropology and Human Evolution is a programme offered jointly by the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). It aims to train students in the two main aspects of Anthropology: Sociocultural evolution and human evolution. The programme is offered in double mode, i.e. using: online and blended learning. The online mode uses the UOC's e-learning platform to provide the contents of the whole degree. The blended mode mixes virtual and face-to-face teaching (for some subjects), developed at the URV.

This jointly offered bachelor's degree is intended for students who have training concerns in the field of Anthropology and are interested in understanding and recognising sociocultural diversity from a local, evolutionary and comparative approach. The curriculum provides a holistic vision of the human being , merging contributions from the natural, human and social sciences to study the origins of humanity, human variability and social behaviours. It therefore provides a broad conception of anthropology that has been mainly developed in countries with an Anglo-Saxon or Latin American influence. This pioneering educational programme is the first in Spain to enable students to acquire knowledge about and from all dimensions of the human being.

An innovative training option for students interested in the study of cultural diversity, archaeological heritage, cooperation, adaptability of cultural forms and human evolution, this programme has a clear vocation to project itself in several professional fields closely related to the world in which we live, including education and health; international cooperation; museums, and cultural, social, legal and other research institutions; cultural management and tourism; media and new technologies; and any other area related to creation and innovation.
