The skills of a social worker are acquired through the deployment of numerous types of subjects.

Basic training: These subjects provide students from different pathways the necessary introductory training to begin their studies on the same level. The basic training curriculum includes anthropology, communication, law, education, psychology, sociology and "social workers skills" (an applied subject to help students begin acquiring the abilities they will develop during their academic and professional lives).

Compulsory subjects: These subjects respond to the professional and researcher profiles of the social worker. The subjects are divided into the following units: Fundamentals of social work; Methods, models and techniques of social work; Social work intervention devices; Social and communication skills; applied research on social work; Social services and social policy; Human development in the life cycle and social environment; Law and citizenship; and Management of organisations.

Optional subjects: The undergraduate programme in Social Work has a highly specialised range of courses that aim to enable students to become familiar with the areas of intervention that are most related to social work and to acquire the complementary knowledge they will need as future professionals. Students can choose from a wide range of optional subjects those that best respond to their personal preferences.
